From the sermon Following the Forerunner to Death

## God's Word > Matthew 17:12-13: I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands. Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

## Story Time Long ago, God sent John to get people ready for Jesus. But some people did not see who John was, and they were mean to him. Jesus said He would die too, because He loves us so much. Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin. We can trust Jesus and be glad He is our King.

## Motion Stand up, stretch your arms out wide like a cross, and say: Jesus died to save me!

## Question Did Jesus die on the cross to take our punishment so we could be safe?

## Coloring Page Draw a picture of Jesus with His arms wide open to show His great love for you.
