From the sermon Faith Works
What happened in the story?
A father brought his sick son to Jesus' disciples, but they could not heal him. Then Jesus healed the boy right away. The disciples asked Jesus why they failed.
He said to them, 'Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.'
— Matthew 17:20
Draw a face showing how the disciples probably felt when they could not help the boy.
Why did the disciples fail?
The sermon said the disciples failed because their faith was too small and they were trusting in themselves instead of trusting in God. Christian power does not come from our own ability. It comes from faith that depends on God and prayer.
Write one word that means 'trusting God instead of yourself.'
How can our faith grow?
The pastor said God gives us faith and also grows it. He talked about ordinary means of grace — things like reading the Bible, praying, baptism, and the Lord's Supper. These things help our faith grow when we use them with trust in God.
Name one way you can depend on God this week.
