Never Moved

From the sermon Unmovable
The psalm ends with a promise: *He who does these things shall never be moved.* It's a statement of stability, of security, of unshakable standing.
But here's the tension: the tent moved. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt and destroyed again. The dwelling place of God on earth was anything but permanent.
So what does it mean to never be moved?
It means that the one who meets these qualifications — the one who is blameless, truthful, generous, just, and faithful — has a place with God that cannot be taken away. His standing is secure. His position is permanent.
And that person is Jesus.
He is the unmovable One. He ascended to the right hand of the Father, and He's not going anywhere. His Kingdom will not be shaken. His throne will not be overthrown. He is seated in the presence of God forever.
And here's the staggering truth: if you are in Christ, you are unmovable too. Not because of your righteousness, but because of His. Not because you've kept the standard, but because He has — and He shares His standing with you.
You are hidden in Christ. You are seated with Him in the heavenly places. Your position before God is as secure as Jesus' position before God. That's not arrogance. That's the gospel.
Pause and consider
What threatens to shake your sense of security before God? How does the truth that Jesus is unmovable change that?
Prayer
Father, I am so easily shaken — by my failures, by my circumstances, by my doubts. Thank You that my standing before You does not depend on me, but on Jesus. He is unmovable, and in Him, so am I. Amen.
