The King of Glory

Saturday · Anchor: Ps.24.10· preview (not yet released by the daily cron)

From the sermon Unmovable

Psalm 15 asks the question. Psalm 24 gives the answer.

*Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.*

David knew he wasn't writing about himself. He knew the standard was too high, the requirement too absolute. He was pointing forward to someone else — someone who could actually meet the criteria, someone who could dwell in God's presence without compromise.

And that someone is Jesus.

He is the King of glory. Strong and mighty. Mighty in battle. The One who ascended the hill of the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart. The One who did not lift up His soul to what is false. The One who kept every promise, honored every commitment, and gave Himself completely.

And here's the breathtaking part: He did it for you.

He didn't meet the standard so He could stand alone in God's presence. He met it so you could stand there with Him. He didn't secure His own righteousness and leave you behind. He secured it and then clothed you in it.

So when you read Psalm 15 and feel the weight of what's required, don't despair. And don't try harder. Look to Jesus. Trust Him. Rest in what He's already done.

The King of glory has opened the door. And He's inviting you in — not because you're qualified, but because He is.

Pause and consider

How does knowing that Jesus is the King of glory change the way you approach God today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the King of glory, and You have done what I could never do. Thank You for meeting every requirement, for standing in my place, for opening the way to the Father. I trust in You alone. Amen.
