The Wandering Sheep

Friday · Anchor: Matt.18.12

From the sermon Seeking the Lost Sheep

From the sermon

You might not think much about the wandering sheep, but God does.

Scripture · Matt.18.12

What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

Reflect and pray

It is easy to dismiss the one who wanders, to write off the straying believer as too much trouble or too far gone. Jesus confronts that indifference with a shepherd’s urgency. He leaves the ninety-nine to search for the one because His love is particular and active. This should shape how we view our own wanderings and how we view brothers or sisters who have drifted. God is not satisfied with the fold while one is missing. Pray for a heart that mirrors His persistent, seeking love.
