Joy Over Repentance

Saturday · Anchor: Luke.15.10

From the sermon Seeking the Lost Sheep

From the sermon

The normal Christian life is the one of dealing with sin, fighting against sin, loathing sin, asking God's help, repenting a sin. That's the reality.

Scripture · Luke.15.10

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Reflect and pray

Repentance is not a one-time event but the ongoing rhythm of the believing life. Jesus teaches that heaven itself rejoices over one sinner who repents. This means every honest turning from sin is met with angelic joy, not merely human guilt. The preacher reminds us that fighting sin is normal, not exceptional. Rather than hiding your failures, bring them to the Father who seeks restoration. Today, confess your need for mercy, turn from what hinders you, and receive the joy that greets every returning step.
