Reflect and pray

So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

This is the Father's will: that not one of His children should be lost. Not the impressive ones. Not the mature ones. Not the ones who have it all together. Not one.

That includes you.

Maybe you've wondered if you're really saved. Maybe you've looked at your track record — the sins you keep committing, the prayers you forget to pray, the ways you fall short — and you've thought, 'Am I really His? Can I really be sure?'

Here's what you need to know: if you are His, He will not let you go. It is not His will that you perish. And what He wills, He accomplishes. He is powerful enough to keep you. He is faithful enough to finish what He started. He is committed enough to bring you home.

That doesn't mean you won't wander. It doesn't mean you won't struggle. It doesn't mean the Christian life will be easy or that you'll never doubt. But it does mean this: He will come after you. He will restore you. He will not lose you.

You are not holding on to Him by the strength of your grip. He is holding on to you by the strength of His. And His grip is sure.

So take heart. If you belong to Him, you will not be lost. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. Because it is not the Father's will that even one of His little ones should perish.
