Known by Name

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.

Jesus doesn't say, 'I know about my sheep.' He says, 'I know my own.' There's a difference. He knows you. Not in some distant, abstract way, but intimately. Personally. By name.

He knows your struggles. He knows your fears. He knows the sins you've confessed and the ones you're still hiding. He knows the ways you've wandered and the reasons you came back. He knows what keeps you up at night and what makes you doubt and what makes you hope.

And He laid down His life for you anyway.

Not for a crowd. Not for a concept. For you. Specifically. Individually. By name.

This is the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. This is the shepherd who doesn't lose a single sheep the Father has given Him. This is the shepherd who calls you by name and leads you out, who goes before you, who lays down His life and takes it up again — all so that you might be His and He might be yours.

You are not one of many to Him. You are one of His. And that changes everything.

When you feel overlooked, remember: He knows you. When you feel insignificant, remember: He chose you. When you feel like you've wandered too far, remember: He's already looking for you. And He will find you. Because you are His.
