Remember What Jesus Said

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. (Matthew 18:18-20)

Question 1: What Does 'Church' Mean?

Jesus used a special word for church that means 'a gathering of people.' The church is not a building — it is God's people coming together! When do you gather with other Christians? What do you do when you gather?

Question 2: Why Does Jesus Care So Much?

In Matthew 18, Jesus told a story about a shepherd who had 100 sheep. When one sheep wandered away, the shepherd left the 99 to go find the one lost sheep. Jesus said it is not God's will that even one little one should perish. Why do you think Jesus compares us to sheep?

Question 3: How Does Jesus Help Us?

Jesus gives the church (the gathered people) authority to help each other stay close to Him. When someone wanders away from Jesus, the church family works to bring them back. How can you help a friend who is making wrong choices?

Activity: Draw Your Church Family

Draw a picture of your church gathering together. Show people worshiping, praying, or helping each other. Remember: Jesus is right there with you when you gather in His name!
