But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.
Reflect and pray
The righteousness we need is not our own, worked up through effort or discipline, but God's own righteousness given freely to those who believe. This is the stunning reversal of the gospel: what we could never earn, God grants through faith in Christ. Today, pause to consider whether you are trying to add to what Christ has done, as if his work needed your help. Pray that you would rest fully in this gift, trusting that God counts you righteous not because of your performance but because of Jesus' finished work.
