Story Time
There was a man who loved his money and his toys more than anything. Jesus told His friends that loving stuff makes it very hard to be in God's kingdom. He said it would be easier for a big camel to fit through a tiny needle hole! The friends asked, 'Who can be saved then?' Jesus said, 'With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'
Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, 'Who then can be saved?' But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.' — Matthew 19:23-26
Motion Time
Stand up tall like a big camel. Now crouch down small like a tiny needle hole. Jump up high and shout, 'God can do it!'
Question Time
Can God do impossible things?
Leader Note: The expected answer is Yes. If a child says No, gently remind them: 'Jesus said with God all things are possible, so yes He can!'
Coloring Time
Draw a picture of a big camel, a tiny needle, and God making the impossible happen.
Leader Notes
Delivery Tone: Warm, slow, and cheerful. Use big arm motions and an excited whisper when you say impossible, then a happy shout for possible. Expected Duration: 5 minutes. Restless Child: Let them hold the Bible, act out the camel motions early, or start coloring while you read. Redirect Language: If a child gets stuck on camels and needles, say, 'That sounds silly, doesn't it? Jesus used a silly picture to show us that we need God's big power.' Time Estimates: Story — 2 min; Motion — 1 min; Question — 1 min; Coloring direction — 1 min.
