With God, the Impossible Is Possible

## Leader Prep Welcome the kids and read the main passage together. Allow about 15 minutes total.

Jesus said to his disciples, 'Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.'

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, 'Who then can be saved?' But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'

## Question 1: What Gets in the Way? Ask: Jesus said it is very hard for a rich person to enter God's kingdom. Why do you think loving money or toys too much makes it hard to love God?

Leader Note: Expected answers: Kids may say, 'Because you think about your stuff more than God,' or 'It becomes more important than Jesus.' If a child goes off-topic — for example, talking about a shopping trip — say: 'That sounds fun! But Jesus was teaching that when our hearts are full of wanting more stuff, there is less room for God. Let's think about what we love most.' Time: 3–4 minutes.

## Question 2: Who Can Fix It? Ask: The disciples asked, 'Who then can be saved?' Jesus answered, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.' What does that mean for us?

Leader Note: Expected answers: 'We cannot save ourselves,' or 'God has to do it because He is powerful,' or 'Only God makes it possible.' If a child says, 'We just need to try harder,' redirect gently: 'Trying to be good is right, but Jesus said even that is not enough. Salvation depends on God's power, not ours. God does what we cannot do.' Time: 3–4 minutes.

## Question 3: What Is Better Than Riches? Ask: The sermon said Jesus does not promise us more money or toys. What does He offer us instead that is worth far more?

Leader Note: Expected answers: 'Forgiveness of sins,' 'Being in God's family,' 'Eternal life,' or 'A relationship with God.' If a child answers with material things like 'a bigger house,' redirect: 'Some people hope Jesus will make them rich, but the gospel offers something better. Jesus gives us forgiveness and makes us part of God's family forever. That is better than any treasure.' Time: 3–4 minutes.

## Activity: Draw the Impossible Give each child paper and crayons. Have them draw a camel and a very small needle. Then ask them to draw a big heart with a cross inside to show that God can do the impossible work of saving us. When they finish, let each child share one thing they drew.

Leader Note: If a child draws unrelated items, ask: 'How does your picture show that God does what we cannot do?' Keep the focus on God's power and loving Him more than stuff. Time: 5 minutes.

## Closing Prayer Close by thanking God that He alone can save us and that He invites us into His family.
