He will be killed by crucifixion. It's not irrelevant, but it's important to understand it was the death or it was the punishment that was handed out for the most serious offenders.

and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.
Reflect and pray
Crucifixion was the most shameful death in the Roman world, reserved for the worst criminals, yet Jesus embraced it willingly. He also declared that he would be raised on the third day, turning horror into hope. This verse holds both the agony of the cross and the victory of the empty tomb. As you pray, do not rush past the mockery, flogging, and nails. Let the cost sink in. Then let your gratitude rise, because the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is able to raise you to new life in him.
