Jesus Told the Future

## Story Time Leader, read slowly with a calm, warm voice. Hold a Bible so the children see it is true. Time: 2 minutes.

Jesus and His friends walked to Jerusalem. Jesus told them, 'Soon, mean people will hurt Me, but on the third day I will come back alive.' Jesus knew the future, and He always tells the truth. He did this because He loves us and wanted to save us.

\"See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.\" — Matthew 20:17-19

March in place like Jesus walking to Jerusalem. Cup your hands around your ears like you are listening to Jesus tell the future. Now jump up high and shout, 'He came back alive!'

## Yes or No Question Leader, ask slowly and wait five seconds. Expected answer: Yes. If a child says no, gently say, 'Remember, Jesus told His friends what would happen before it happened, and He always tells the truth.'

Speak slowly and lower your voice at the serious parts, then smile big at the resurrection part. - Expected duration: 5 minutes total. - Restless child: Invite the child to hold the Bible or a picture of a road. If they need to move, let them march in place during the story. Redirect attention by asking them to show you how to cup ears for the motion. - Extra redirect: If a child asks why Jesus died, simply say, 'Jesus took the punishment for our sin because He loves us.'
