Cry for Mercy

Monday · Anchor: Matt.20.30

From the sermon Seeing, Although Blind

From the sermon

Behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, Lord, have mercy on US, son of David.

Scripture · Matt.20.30

And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, 'Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!'

Reflect and pray

The blind men could not see Jesus with their eyes, yet they saw clearly who He was—the Son of David and the Lord. Their plea for mercy was bold and specific, refusing to let their physical limitation keep them from crying out to the Messiah. In your own quietness today, consider whether you recognize Jesus as Lord and whether you are willing to call out to Him with your needs. He is near, and He hears those who seek His mercy. Ask Him to open your heart to see Him more clearly than you see anything else.
