From the sermon
So this is part of the human condition is fashioning a God for oneself. This is idolatry.
Scripture · Isa.42.8
I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. (Isaiah 42:8)
Reflect and pray
The Lord declares His name and says His glory belongs to no other. The quote above warns against fashioning a god for oneself, a god shaped by our own expectations rather than by who God has revealed Himself to be. Consider quietly whether there are ways you have pictured God to suit yourself. Read this verse as His own word about Himself. Pray that you would know and worship the Lord as He truly is, and give His glory to no other.
